We have a 10-year-old 2-story brick house with wood trim. JayHawk Exteriors prepped all the wood trim, repaired/replaced a small amount of deteriorated wood, removed gutters, wrapped all soffits and trim with Certainteed vinyl, and replaced gutters.

We decided to get vinyl trim wrap because we didn't want to go through the cost and hassle of painting trim every few years. We were approached by another, more aggressively advertised company in the area. Wet were turned off by the high-pressure sales tactics and price and decided to seek another quote.

We contacted JayHawk for a quote after reading their favorable reviews on Angie's List.. Mr. Higgins (a.k.a. "Country") inspected the property and gave us a quote. I was initially impressed by several things.

We were not required to have both husband and wife present (something the other company insisted on), which was very helpful for us given my spouse's schedule.  Since he was a project supervisor, not just a sales rep, Mr. Higgins was able to speak authoritatively about the scope of the work to be done. I also liked knowing that I was meeting the person who would actually be supervising the job.  His presentation was straight-forward. He demonstrated the product, shared pictures of examples, and showed evidence the company was insured and properly licensed. He provided a time-frame and a price quote. He answered all my questions. Then he left me to talk it over with my husband and get back to him. No hard sell, no games.  His price quote was less than half what the other company's rep started at. 

Once we signed the contract, work was quickly scheduled and completed. Mr. Higgins introduced the crew supervisor, Eddie, on the first day and checked in periodically to inspect progress. The team took about 3 days to complete the job with only one day missed when it rained. The crew was polite and professional. They arrived early each day and worked steadily til dinner-time with a reasonable lunch break. Each day they tidied up the yard. On the last day, there was a large pile of debris in the yard, but it was completely removed the next morning. Mr. Higgins closed out the job with a final inspection. We do find an occasional word chip behind the bushes, but overall they were very neat and respectful of my landscaping, even with all the ladders that had to be right up against the foundation plantings.

The quality of the work appears to be excellent. I would definitely hire this company again.

Replaced gutters and downspouts on the rear of our two story house. I got three quotes and Jayhawk was the lowers for the features I wanted. He was the slowest coming up with the bid, but I am glad I waited. The other gutter folks had bids ranging from $3100 to $4800. I wanted a gutter guard for the top roof, no gutter guard for the bottom. I can reach that easily. Jayhawk estomator was quick, polite and honest. He gave me a simple, no BS quote then and there. As he was the last bidder and had the best price. I could sign the contract right then, no cash in advance. i felt a little nervous at the excellent price, but I have good vibes from the gentleman and Jayhawk had good reviews. Communications were very good. He gave me a date that was pending on some parts. When the parts came in he called to let me know the date was good. Come install day, they showed up and did their job and they called the night before to make sure all was a go. Installation looks very nice, all debris was cleaned up. Has not rained yet, but it sure looks good to me.

We had two separate projects. The roof and the wrapping job. Arnie was our on site representative for both jobs. He was wonderful. He couldn't have been nicer and was very knowledgeable about all facets of our projects. Even though we weren't happy with a couple of things, Arnie made sure it was done to our satisfaction. Some how our shutters damaged and Arnie replaced then without any problem. We always felt comfortable with him and are very pleased with the results. Shayne was the very talented contractor that did the wrapping and repairs to our Florida room. he was very thorough and took pride in his work. If he felt something wasn't the way he wanted it to look he redid it till it was just right. I really think my house looks better than any I have seen. Shayne never rushed and took his time to do it right. We are very pleased with that. Jimmy and Jim also worked on the house. We are so glad we decided to give both jobs to Jayhawk. We would use them again and highly recommend them

Replaced 22 windows with Easton double hung glass, replaced one door, replaced the column on the front porch, repaired damaged wood around windows and doors and wrapped all the window sills and door jams in vinyl. The project went very well from start to finish. Contacts with all employees from receptionist to workmen and supervisors was friendly, professional and efficient. Even the the work took longer than expected due to the weather, the attention to detail never faltered. There were very careful with my home and furnishings and cleaned up all of the mess. I would use this company again and would highly recommend them to others.

Denny and I just wanted to say a very huge “Thank You” for your efforts on our behalf in resurfacing the exterior of our home. It turned out to be absolutely beautiful! We couldn’t be happier with the outcome. From the very first time we met with you until the project was completed we have enjoyed working with you and have appreciated your wonderful “can do” attitude.

When we first started this project you were very helpful in bringing us lots of options regarding siding. We are pleased to say we couldn’t be happier with your guidance as to color and quality of what we chose. You hung right in there with us as we went through this deliberation process. As you know, it was a year before we called you back to make as final decision. In the interim we explored knowledgeable recommendations.

Once we made the decision to go with you – it wasn’t long before you were explaining time schedules and what would be happening next. You were clear and always on top of things. As the crew started removing the EFIS we were amazed at the hard work that took place. But what was more amazing was the clean up each day to keep all of that trash down to a minimum - even to the point of vacuuming our grass each day!

As the project moved on and installation began, it was great to see the good craftsmanship of the crew. They were meticulous in their efforts and very courteous as we came and went and even asked questions. They always wanted to please. I also appreciated you checking on them and also checking with us so often to make sure we were happy with the way things were going. When you saw things that we never even saw, you did not let them slide by but instead made sure it was done correctly and to your liking.

Also, as we made some changes regarding the stone and other things you were right there to facilitate that for us. This was not an easy change but you made it seamless as you directed the stone crew and made sure they coordinated with the rest of the project.

Finally, one of the most gratifying aspects of working with you was how you followed up on the details when you had completed the project. We appreciated so much the fact that you came back and corrected little details and fixed any little problems we saw or inquired about. Although they were small and very few you never complained but had a wonderful attitude of making sure we were pleased. Well let me say – we are very pleased and would highly recommend your services to anyone. As a matter of fact, we already have as you know!

One last thought, although we have known you in a professional capacity we now feel like you are a friend as well. We are very comfortable calling you with projects we need and will need in the future. We will also gladly recommend you to anyone considering your services. However, in the interim, we hope you know that you are welcome at our home anytime.

I am writing to express how pleased our family is with our Jayhawk Exteriors “total home makeover” experience. In October of 2007, we put an addition onto our 1985 Chesapeake ranch home and in the process we decided to replace the vinyl siding and roof on the entire house plus addition. Jayhawk was recommended to us by our framing contractor as a reputable and high-quality provider for these services. Mr. Mike Higgins provided us with our initial consultation and spent three hours at our home in the evening to review the scope of work and provide a quotation. I could tell from our first meeting that his experience in this field was extensive and he provided very valuable input to our project. He was patient though our selection process and provided formal price quotes two days later. As a result of his input and the value for our dollar, we were able to extend the scope of our original work to include wrapping the entire house trim and adding leafless gutters for the entire house, all within our original project budget. We competitively bid this project to 4 licensed and insured contractors and awarded the work to Jayhawk based on value, quality and our customer service experience with Mike Higgins.

The outcome speaks for itself as you can see from the enclosed before and after pictures. We’ve proven just how far you can go with a “typical Chesapeake ranch”. It looks like a whole new house! Throughout the renovation, Mike did an excellent job with communication and keeping us informed. He showed up early each morning to provide direction to the work crews and to communicate and resolve any questions we had throughout the process. The work crews themselves were courteous and respectful to me and my family, kept the premises clean and conducted themselves professionally throughout the entire scope of work. I could tell from the final walk through that they took a lot of pride in their work.
